Ian Messenger in an Australian producer and sound engineer and runs Shipwreck Recording. His background is from Adelaide bands The Cold Field and Black Coral and has produced and mixed for musicians in a variety of genres. As simple as it may sound, his number one rule about producing music is getting the vibe. He believes that’s why most people listen to music in the first place – to get a vibe! Everything in the mix should work towards that end.
Located near the beach in Glenelg, Shipwreck Recording is a well-equipped professionally-run recording studio catering to bands and solo artists.
If you’ve already recorded your album or single Shipwreck Recording also offers mixing and mastering services.
The heart of the recording equipment is the Chandler Limited TG Microphone Cassettes. Licenced by EMI Abbey Roads it is the USA made precise reissue of the famous EMI TG 12345 recording console that has famously captured the Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’, Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and The Cure, among many other greats in the late 60’s and early 70’s and beyond. The Chandler channel strips impart an incredible sonic texture to anything they touch and are used by some of the biggest names in music today.
Adelaide musicians now have a chance to record through this equipment along with industry standard Universal Audio preamps, great mics from Beyerdynamic, SE Electronics, Sennheiser and Shure, the impeccable honesty of Neumann KH 310a monitors and the ultra-low latency interfaces of RME from Germany.
